When people come to have me shoot them in an intimate, boudoir setting they can now rest assured that I may know exactly how they feel.  I had a client in the studio for her boudoir shoot and when I finished photographing her, we reversed roles and she took over the camera.  A photographer herself, she was in charge of all creative aspects while I provided the studio lighting expertise. She was free to do all the things that can be so darned intimidating: Posing me, adjusting the drape of any clothing or prop, moving my hair into place, and generally just looking at my body in all its ... well, in its all-together!

So yes, I have been in your position.  I am aware, acutely aware, of how it feels to be thus revealed in front of the camera and under the scrutiny of a photographer (of my preferred gender).  It was many things to me over the course of the shoot: Intimidating, Uncomfortable, Silly, Absurd, Vain, Fun, Playful, Enjoyable, and Intriguing.  I had a distinct advantage in this scenario in that her shoot was first and we had become pretty well acquainted by the time I was in front of the lens.

Like many of my clients, I am no spring chicken.  Yet at 49 my body is in fine shape and still going strong.  I generally like it, and myself, and was excited to have this opportunity.  I did not consider the images to be for my partner, though she certainly enjoys them.  No, this was for me (well, and for this page).  I wanted to have an outside eye capture my body, my spirit, for me to enjoy now and to look back in a few decades and remind myself of where I was at this point in my life.  And why not?  I'm worth it!
